Best Practices

Our college’s best practices, led by the Principal and supported by the IQAC, focus on academic excellence, faculty development, and innovative teaching methods. We prioritize student support through counselling and mentorship, along with regular feedback for continuous improvement. The college fosters a strong research culture, community engagement, and sustainability, ensuring holistic growth and quality education.

1. Kaladarshini and Anveshana 

Title of the practice–Explore to Excel

Objectives –

Assist students focus on team building, volunteership, time management and identify strength Encourage students to explore interest areas and make appropriate career decisions

The Context

Shift in the industry expectations always demands various skill sets from students. Exposure to work as a team, explore different facets of a situation for decision making is possible only by taking advantage of the available resources and exploring new arenas. One such interesting method is through inter class competition known as Kaladarshini and Anveshana

The Practice

Kaladarshini – The most awaited cultural extravaganza ‘Kaladarshini’ is conducted every year. Each class will be given an hour and a theme for the event.This is presented in the form of music, dance, drama, poetry, mime etc., creating a stage to showcase their hidden talents. Artists from the dance, drama, music will judge the event and present the coveted cup to the winners.

Anveshana – The given topic is presented in the form of exhibition of charts, models etc., and Power Point Presentations. The students refer to available resources to collect the information pertaining to the topic allotted to them. This programme aims to improve the research acumen of the students.

Evidence of success

Appreciation by External Judges about the novelty of the programme and appreciation by NAAC peer team has proved to be an integral part for continuation of these events.

Alumni students, who visit the college always recall and acknowledge the importance of these competitions.

Problems encountered and resources required–

Co-ordination among class mates to work towards an idea calls for time. Inducing students of the class to participate in the activities become a challenge at times. Restricting use of viral tech platform videos and resources is a major task.

Limited financial resources sometime curbs creativity.

2. Business Lab – VVSFGC Bank, Vardhini Stores, E-Cell

Title of the practice

Campus Training Practices (CTP)

Objective

To train and expose students on practical knowledge about the theory learnt in class

To understand and apply maintenance of books of accounts and purchase and sales of stock for a sole propriety shop

To enhance business acumen in students through various e-cell odyssey

The Context

Commerce stream has always been ever evolving stream and demands industry upgraded standards from the students passing out of BCom and BBA. As Benjamin Brewster says “In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But in practice, there is.” Keeping this in mind a student’s bank and stationary stores was started and till date is maintained by students. Entrepreneur cell is working with the intention to bring out business skills among students which is the need of the hour.

The Practice

A student’s bank where each student of the first year opens an account with a minimum amount and learns transactions. Account opening, books maintenance, interest calculation, closure of account and slips to be used for each transaction is trained to the students by a faculty. The Bank is maintained by 2 Managers and a clerk. Though the managers remain the same for the year, the clerk (trainees) change every 3 weeks. This enables to train more students who are interested in learning Bank transactions.

A stationery shop named Vardhini stores which also sells packaged eatables train students to source the stock, maintain and verify and also re-order. This store is also maintained by 2 managers and a clerk. It trains the students in maintenance of stock register, petty cash book and cash maintenance.

E-cell trains students by giving exposure to various skill workshops like cake baking, detergent preparation, hairstyling etc. which in turn helps them acquire skills and motivate to start a small-scale business. 

Evidence of Success

Placement of students in various banks and improvement in their ability to clear interview in various corporate and government jobs.

Appreciation and acknowledgement by various Guests, Resource persons, NAAC peer team has motivated for continuing the practice.

Problems encountered and resources required

Constant changes in technology has called for constant upgradation in every field. As a college it is challenging to be on par with the industry. Vast resources and required investment cannot be mobilized as an educational institution.
