ANNAPURNA

Annapurna—free mid-day meal scheme was started on 21-01-2017 for providing free lunch for our needy students with the generous contribution of ‘Alumni’ Association of our college. Under this scheme free lunch was provided to students for the academic year 2017-18 to 2019-20(upto 14-03-2020). The scheme could not be continued since the classes were called off from 16-03-2020 due to COVID-19. Once the regular classes start for the academic year 2021-22, we plan to resume the scheme.

The majority of the students belong to lower middle class families. Most of them could not have their breakfast in the morning before coming to the college. As a result they were unable to concentrate on the lessons in the class. They use to fall sick frequently and miss the classes very often. With the provision of lunch during the breaktime, those students students are benefitted and attendance to the classes has improved.

The lunch is prepared and supplied by ’ISKCON’ temple. They prepare a variety of Items everyday which the students relish. The wastage of food is almost nil. The food is provided at a subsidised rate. We are grateful to the authorities of ‘ISKCON’ for extending the facility to our college.

The Management of VVS has appreciated the welfare scheme and has promised to provide all support in future.
