Vidya Vardhaka Sangha First Grade College offers a wide spectrum of facilities and support services tailored to cater to the needs of the students for their academic growth and personality development to make them not only industry ready but also make them socially conscious, physically healthy and mentally strong to face the challenges thrown before them.
The Physics Department is endowed with two laboratories which are spacious and well ventilated with comfortable work tables and seating arrangements. The laboratory is well equipped with modern and advanced digital instruments for conducting lab experiments in various important areas of Physics like Optics, Mechanics, Electricity, Electronics, Thermal Physics etc. to name a few. All the experiments prescribed by the University are designed to correlate theoretical knowledge with practical application to enable the students to understand the concepts taught in the classroom. Manuals are provided to the students which are prepared by the faculty of the department. The laboratories have Wi-Fi connectivity backed by an UPS facility.
The Department of Chemistry has two laboratories which are very spacious, well-ventilated taking into account safety standards required for a chemistry lab. The labs with advanced equipment are designed to empower the students with practical knowledge of the basic phenomena/concepts of chemistry. They learn to apply the basic techniques for analyses such as volumetric titration, spectroscopy, chromatography etc. which is used in the preparation, identification and purification of chemical compounds. These practical sessions provide a hand on experience to our students inspiring them to be successful professionals and researchers. The lab is Wi-Fi enabled backed with UPS facility to ensure uninterrupted lab sessions.
The Math lab under the aegis of the Department of Mathematics is well equipped with 20 P4 systems and a backup facility of 2 hours with APC UPS. A 512kbps broadband internet facility is available. In every semester students have practical papers in which they learn programming mathematical problems and techniques using programming languages such as SCILAB, MATHLAB etc. These lab sessions introduce students to the practical applications of mathematics along with the formal classroom problem solving methodology.
The Commerce lab offers a platform to students to practice the theoretical concepts taught and learnt in the classroom. The basic objective of these lab sessions is to inherently develop trading and managerial skills in students by practically applying the subjects taught in the syllabi to their daily activities. The lab work is also so framed so as to enhance the entrepreneurial and professional skills of the students. Banking concepts, Surveys, Mock Meetings, Interviews, Group Discussions, Problem Solving, Negotiations, etc., are practiced which will facilitate students to develop communication, participation and presentation skills.
VVS First Grade College has a well-equipped auditorium with a seating capacity of over 250 students. The auditorium is spacious, well ventilated and well furnished. To enhance the quality of education, the auditorium that stages several cultural events along with academic workshops, seminars and conferences has good acoustics and offers facilities such as DLP LCD projector, screen, white board and Wi-Fi facility accompanied with sophisticated audio equipment with wireless system facility. The auditorium is also secured with a 24/7 power back up system.
The spacious, neat, well-ventilated, well-lit library has a stock of more than 22,640 books of various subjects and up to 36 journals, magazines etc. Along with the course curriculum books the library has abundant study material in the form of reference books, aptitude books, competitive exam preparation books, magazines, audio/video cassettes, CD-ROM, past question papers etc. A book bank also provides text books to meritorious students. A SC/ST book bank scheme is also available in the library. The college also permits members of the alumni association ‘VAHINI’ to avail the library facilities. The library provides the right ambience for students to pursue their studies in their free time making the best use of the facilities offered.
Each classroom is well-ventilated, spacious and has comfortable seating arrangements which enables students to concentrate, learn and actively participate in the classroom activities. Clean, well-lit blackboards automated with CCTV camera provides a secure environment for the students to pursue their goals. A few classrooms are equipped with branded, sophisticated audio system along with LCD projector and Wi-Fi facility
The college has very good recreational facilities for both indoor sports such as carom board, chess to name a few and outdoor sports such as badminton, volley ball, cricket etc. The college playground surrounded by lush green flora and fauna provides the necessary environment for a hard workout. Besides this the college has a very well equipped gym for a handy workout between classes and after class hours to keep students bodily fit and stress free. The Sport’s instructor also helps to train the students whenever required.
A separate reading room in the first floor of the college with adequate seating arrangements enables students to read and refer books and magazines in the free hours.
The Ladies Lounge of the college provides an ideal atmosphere for the young girl students of the college to relax, rejuvenate themselves and resume their work. The lounge is properly ventilated, well-lit, comfortably furnished, neat and tidy providing a refreshing ambience. This lounge many a time serves as a resting room for the young girls to rest and recline when they are unwell or in some sort of a discomfort. Our college has realized the need to provide personal space for girls especially in a co-educational institution.
